The Palms Hotel Las Vegas Hosts NHL Awards

Palms hotel Las Vegas owner George Maloof didn't grow up being a big hockey fan, and as recently as three years ago he didn't known a slap shot from a faceoff. But that was before the National Hockey League signed a deal with his hotel to make it the center of the sport's universe for a few days in June.

The three-year agreement for the Palms to host the NHL Awards ceremony has been very successful, and as it comes to an end this year Maloof is hoping it can be extended. The program brings many of hockey's best players to Las Vegas for the awards ceremony which is televised live throughout the US and Canada. This year's event will be held on June 22 at the Palms' Pearl Concert Theater. Maloof had expected that the awards program would offer exposure for his hotel to different markets, but even he was surprised by the number of hockey fans that made the trip to Las Vegas for the show.
